I’m still confused about some health concepts that should, unfortunately, be clearer by now. I have to start researching…I can’t go on like this. Example: I didn’t know sugar was a carbohydrate. Okay, I know I’m blonde, but really, this was not explained to me in health class.
And another thing….
Which is worse, fat or carbs? They can’t both be that evil because they’re in everything. And if all foods can be good in moderation, why do I keep gaining weight? Yes, I’m on medications that can cause difficulty in weight loss, but it still doesn’t make sense: if my basal metabolic rate is higher than what I eat on a daily basis, shouldn’t I at least be maintaining my weight if not losing it?
I’m a visual person, and I need to begin understanding dietary concepts in a visual way. How much salt can we have in day—or how much should we have? Telling me how many mgs of sodium won’t help when I’m cooking up delicious food in the kitchen because my measuring spoons don’t come with mgs on them. I could do the math, sure, but again: I’m visual. I need to see a little pile of salt and know “okay, it’s that many teaspoons for everything in the day, so maybe I should cut out some of what this recipe calls for.”
Clearly, I have some concepts I can begin researching.
